Event Details

Cold stunning is the #1 threat to sea turtles in New York, especially during the cold stun season from September to December! In this lecture, you'll learn about cold stunning, its impact on sea turtles, and the critical response efforts of the New York Marine Rescue Center (NYMRC). By understanding the causes and consequences of cold stunning, you’ll be better equipped to recognize and assist in rescue efforts.

This lecture also serves as your first step in training to help the NYMRC. By patrolling beaches and reporting any cold-stunned turtles you find, you can play an essential role in ensuring these animals receive timely care and protection.
