Join Thomas Egan as he discusses the many aspects that went into Truman's decision to use the first atomic weapon in the history of warfare in his attempt to bring an end to World War Two in the Pacific. Time has questioned his authorization over the dropping of not one, but TWO atomic bombs. In this lecture, Thomas explores the reasons for the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor, the events in the Pacific that led to Truman's decision, and the fallout of the decision as it pertains to our relationship with the Soviet Union in the decades following the war. Registration required; limited to 25.
